NC family returns home after tornado
A North Carolina family was able to return to their home earlier than expected this week after being forced out by damages from a tornado last year.
The Branson family's home suffered significant damage during a twister which swept through Davidson Country, North Carolina, on November 16, according to The Dispatch.
They were originally scheduled to move back into the property on March 19. However, the paper reports a quick response from their homeowners insurance company and the area's mild winter allowed for construction work to wrap up more than a month ahead of schedule and get the family home for Valentine's Day.
"The overall damage to the house was quite extensive both exterior and interior, but for the most part it was mostly cosmetic," home builder Rick Yarborough told the paper. He added that repair costs ended up totaling roughly $87,000.
The tornado was one of many which touched down in the southern U.S. that day, killing six people. Officials added that roughly 50 homes sustained some damage during the burst of activity.
